根室氏南美南极鱼为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目南极鱼亚目南极鱼科的其中一种，分布于南美洲阿根廷巴塔哥尼亚及福克兰群岛海域，栖息深度30-160米，体长可达23公分，为底栖性鱼类，属肉食性，生活习性不明。
