苍白浪潮乐队（英语：Pale Waves）成立于2014年，是一支来自英国英格兰曼彻斯特的独立摇滚乐队。成员包括Heather Baron-Gracie （主唱、节奏吉他手、作词人）、 Ciara Doran（鼓手、作词人、制作人）、Hugo Silvani（主奏吉他手、键盘手）和Charlie Wood（低音吉他手、键盘手）。

乐队最初成立于Heather Baron-Gracie与Ciara Doran的大学时期，二人组成Creek乐队之后，主奏吉他手Hugo Silvani和低音吉他手Charlie Wood加入，形成了现在的阵容。[1]

2017年，苍白浪潮乐队与独立唱片厂牌Dirty Hit签下了唱片合约后，推出了首张单曲《There's a Honey（英语：There's a Honey）》和第二张单曲《Television Romance（英语：Television Romance）》。2018年，乐队在BBC年度新声评选中获得第五名，并在NME Awards赢得NME Under The Radar Award作为乐队的首个奖项。[2]2018年2月，推出首张迷你专辑《All the Things I Never Said（英语：All the Things I Never Said (Pale Waves EP)）》。2018年9月14日，发行首张录音室专辑《My Mind Makes Noises（英语：My Mind Makes Noises）》，在英国专辑排行榜上获得第八名。[3]2021年2月12日，乐队发行第二张录音室专辑《Who am I?》，在英国专辑排行榜上获得第三名。[4]

2014年 - 2017年: 成立初期[编辑]

乐队原名是Creek[5]，是主唱兼节奏吉他手Heather Baron-Gracie和鼓手Ciara Doran在曼彻斯特就读英国及爱尔兰现代音乐学院（英语：British and Irish Modern Music Institute）时[6]共同成立的。两人自那时起便合作完成了几乎全部歌的创作，Heather负责写词，Ciara负责制作。[7] 主奏吉他手Ben Bateman和低音吉他手Ryan Marsden随后加入，完成了乐队阵容，更名为Pale Waves，但他们很快便退出了，并由现在的主奏吉他手Hugo Silvani 和低音吉他手Charlie Wood作替补。[8]2015年，乐队与制作团队Sugar House录制了Demo，吸引了独立音乐厂牌Dirty Hit的注意，并在2017年与乐队签约。[8]

2018年2月14日，乐队在NME Awards赢得NME Under The Radar Award作为乐队的第一个奖项，在O2布里克斯顿学院的典礼上表演了单曲《There's a Honey》，单曲《Television Romance》亦获提名了最佳音乐录影带。[18] 2018年2月20日，乐队发行了首张迷你专辑《All the Things I Never Said（英语：All the Things I Never Said (Pale Waves EP)）》的数码音源[19]。2018年3月16日，发行了十二英寸的黑胶唱片版专辑。

2018年4月6日，乐队与唱片公司Interscope Records签约，会与Dirty Hit合资发行音乐作品。[20]

2018年5月15日，乐队发布第三首单曲《Kiss》，6月28日发布第四首单曲《Noises》，均收录在首张录音室专辑 《My Mind Makes Noises（英语：My Mind Makes Noises）》中。

2018年9月初，在与NME杂志的访问中，乐队透露他们正在制作第二张迷你专辑。Heather指出这张迷你专辑将会倾向流行朋克和摇滚乐，并会触及政治、包容和性等议题。[21]2018年9月14日，乐队发行首张录音室专辑《My Mind Makes Noises（英语：My Mind Makes Noises）》，在英国专辑排行榜上获得第八名。[3]

2019年 - 至今: 车祸事件、《Who Am I?》[编辑]

2019年5月，与NME杂志的对话中，Heather重谈第二张迷你专辑的制作进度，说乐队有很多曲目，他们会将收录曲目缩减到五、六首，其余的则可能会出现在录音室专辑中。[22] 然而，9月时，乐队宣布他们将不制作迷你专辑，而是专注于制作第二张录音室专辑。[23]

2019年10月17日，乐队在Q Awards（英语：Q Awards 2019）上赢得了Q Best Breakthrough Act。

2020年1月，乐队释出与Lawrence Rothman（英语：Lawrence Rothman）合作的电影The Turning（英语：The Turning (2020 film)）的官方电影配乐《SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide》。

2020年3月，乐队在柏林去替海尔希的欧洲巡演助演的路途中发生了交通事故。他们所乘坐的旅游巴士滑出结冰的路面、侧翻滚入路边的渠沟，把成员和工作人员们困在巴士中。他们最后安全逃脱并无生命危险，仅造成轻伤。[24]当时只有三位成员在巴士上，包括鼓手Ciara、吉他手Hugo和低音吉他手Charlie。主唱Heather则因为对长途驾车担忧及警惕，提前在女朋友陪同下飞到了德国，她曾恳求其他成员也这样做。[7] Heather表示自己永远不会忘记Ciara事故时来电的声音，因为从没听过他们的声音像那样。她形容道“你知道在电影中，垂死的人嘴中流出血但仍有话想说，是怎样的吗？他们听起来就是那样，我当时心想‘我的天哪，他们要死了’。”[25]事后，Ciara在Instagram发文讲述事故：“这是我经历过最恐怖的事之一，我们真的以为我们要死掉。事故造成的伤势会复原，但这(留下的阴影)会永远伴随我们”。[24]Heather则因没有在巴士上与成员们一同经历事故，感到非常内疚，“我很大程度上是这个乐队的领导者 …… 我当时应该要在那里向他们提供帮助的。但是，我没有。”她说。[25]车祸的发生令成员们需要时间休息来平抚身体和心理上的创伤，取消了数场原定计划了的演出。加上一个月后爆发冠状病毒疫情，给予了成员时间和空间去消化事故及暂别忙碌的巡演工作，同时押后了第二张录音室专辑的正式发行。[25]

2020年11月10日，乐队回归，发布了第二张录音室专辑《Who am I?》的主打单曲《Change》[26]，被Annie Mac命名为全球最热门唱片。[27]《Change》的单曲封面照是一只破茧而出后自信张开翅膀的蝴蝶，这首歌与其他专辑收录歌曲如《Easy》和《She is My Religion》的MV都融入了“蝴蝶”的概念在其中。这象征着乐队在各方面上，包括歌词、风格及最重要的情感上的“重生”。[7]Heather形容这张专辑是他们“创造过最好的东西”，有别于第一张专辑。[28] 2020年12月15日，乐队发布专辑《Who am I?》的第二首单曲"She's My Religion"。

2021年2月12日，乐队正式发行第二张录音室专辑《Who am I?》，在英国专辑排行榜上获得第三名。[4]专辑录制是在车祸后不到一个月的疫情期间、特朗普旅行禁令生效前匆忙抵达美国洛杉矶，并被隔离数周后才开始与制作人Rich Costey（英语：Rich Costey）进行的。Hugo和Charlie因长期与家人和伴侣分隔感到不安，提早返回英国在家中遥距录制他们的部分，Heather和Ciara则留在美国。[7]
