东海增一,是拜耳拉丁字母ζ命名的一颗恒星[9],它是一颗黄白色调的恒星,位于赤道上的巨蛇座。它的视星等为+4.6等,以肉眼就可以看见[3],根据太空探测器依巴谷卫星测量的视差变化42.4毫角秒周年视差,它与太阳的距离是77光年,而且正以-50.7公里/秒的径向速度接近太阳[5]。估计它会在40万年的时间里,以最接近的近日点距离25.7 ly(7.88 pc)掠过太阳[10]

东海增一的年龄大约是24亿岁[1],它的光谱类型是F2V [4],表示它是一颗普通的F型主序星。这颗恒星的直径大约是太阳的2倍,质量是1.4倍,来自外大气层有效温度为6529k,辐射的光度是太阳的6.3倍[1]。它有一个相对较高的旋转速度,显示的投影旋转速度英语Projected rotational velocity是69公里/秒[6]
