达斯马齐连自00年代中开始在芝加哥参演舞台剧和拍摄广告[11]，其中他在《玻璃动物园》和《埋藏的秘密》的演出表现获得好评[19]。他随后亦有继续在当地的剧院演出和出任咖啡因剧院（Caffeine Theatre）的艺术总监[20]。
