奇怪电波圆环

奇怪电波圆环[3](英语:Odd radio circle,简称ORC)是一种非常大且尚无法解释的天体。它们在无线电波波长处,是边缘较亮且高度圆形[4]。截至2021 4月27日,已经观察到五个这样的天体(可能还有六个)[5][6][7][8][9][10][11]。观察到的ORC在无线电的波长下相当明亮,但在可见、红外或X射线波长下却都不可见[5][6]。其中三个ORC位于星系的中心,这表明可能是这些星系形成了这种天体[6][11]。
概述
[编辑]ORC是天文学家安娜·卡宾斯卡研究基于澳大利亚平方公里阵列探路者(ASKAP)无线电望远镜阵列的宇宙演化图计划(EMU)的试点调查后,于2019年底发现的[12]。所有观测到的ORC直径都约为1弧分,处于高银纬,距银河平面有一段距离。圆环的成因不明,快速电波爆发,伽马射线暴或中子星碰撞相关的球形冲击波的可能性被考虑过。但是由于ORC拥有大角直径的关系,研究人员认为如果与这些相关的话,那么它必定发生在遥远的过去,为宇宙中最遥远且古老的一种天体,应该有着非常大的红移[8]。此外,根据天文学家的说法,"圆形特征在电波天文影像中是众所周知的,通常代表一个球形物体,如超新星遗迹、行星状星云、星周包层、正面朝向的圆盘面,如原行星盘或一个恒星形成星系,……它们也可能由校准误差或反褶积不足引起的明亮光源周围的成像资料伪缺陷引起。无线电影像中的这一类圆形特征似乎并不对应于任何已知类型的天体或人工制品,而似乎是一类新的天体 [8]。
