2021年7月10日，《綜藝》雜誌報導佩利亞斯影業和皮埃爾影業將聯合製作潔絲汀·楚特導演的第四部電影《墜惡真相》，由特里葉和亞瑟·哈拉里編劇^[6]。影片被認為是一部「採用希區考克式（英語：Hitchcockian）程序的驚悚片」，是特里葉繼《寂寞診療室》後二度攜手桑德拉·惠勒^[7]。

主體拍攝於2022年2月底啟動^[8]，同年5月13日殺青^[7]。電影主要在奧弗涅-隆-阿爾卑斯大區取景，包括薩瓦省的莫里耶訥和比利亞倫貝爾（英語：Villarembert），以及伊澤爾省的蒙博諾-聖馬丹和格勒諾布爾，此外也在濱海夏朗德省和巴黎拍攝^[9]。
