在NBA選秀歷史上，多倫多暴龍隊共計完成三十四次選秀。1995年6月28日，暴龍隊作為NBA的擴編球隊（英语：Expansion_team），在多倫多的羅傑士中心（當時為 SkyDome體育館）完成隊史第一次選秀。在1989年，NBA通過選秀條款，所有的選秀必須縮減至兩輪內完成，而每支隊伍每年都能在首輪及二輪選秀，各擁有一支籤。這項安排到現在仍然繼續[1]。 在此之前，首輪選秀的樂透籤，也就是順位靠前的選秀機會，只提供給沒有打進季後賽的隊伍們。 另外，球隊可以交易選秀權。亦即在選秀會上，可能有隊伍的選秀籤數量超過或少於二[2]。
