在NBA选秀历史上，多伦多暴龙队共计完成三十四次选秀。1995年6月28日，暴龙队作为NBA的扩编球队（英语：Expansion_team），在多伦多的罗杰士中心（当时为 SkyDome体育馆）完成队史第一次选秀。在1989年，NBA通过选秀条款，所有的选秀必须缩减至两轮内完成，而每支队伍每年都能在首轮及二轮选秀，各拥有一支签。这项安排到现在仍然继续[1]。 在此之前，首轮选秀的乐透签，也就是顺位靠前的选秀机会，只提供给没有打进季后赛的队伍们。 另外，球队可以交易选秀权。亦即在选秀会上，可能有队伍的选秀签数量超过或少于二[2]。
